SpeedGate Privacy Policy
Overview
SpeedGate is designed to process measurement data locally on your device. The app does not require an account, does not use third-party analytics, does not show advertising, and does not transmit your test data to the developer or to external servers.
Data the App Uses
SpeedGate uses device capabilities only to provide calibration and live test functionality:
- Location: used during calibration and live tests to calculate speed, distance, and acceleration times.
- Motion sensors: accelerometer and gyroscope data are used to detect vehicle launch, estimate acceleration, and improve measurement timing through sensor fusion.
Location and motion data are processed on-device. They are not uploaded by the app.
Data Stored on Your Device
The app may store the following data locally on your device:
- Saved run results, including gate times, maximum speed, duration, distance, and quality estimates.
- Run telemetry samples used for charts and later inspection.
- Metrix traces and Live Session logs when logging is enabled or generated by the app.
- Vehicle profiles and vehicle information associated with saved runs.
- Calibration settings, calibration quality values, and calibration traces.
- App settings, including gate targets, sound preferences, and onboarding status.
This data is stored using on-device storage. No account or sign-in is required.
Backup Export and Import
SpeedGate includes optional backup export and import features. When you export a backup, the app creates a JSON file containing local app data such as settings, vehicle profiles, saved runs, telemetry, metrix traces, and Live Session logs.
Export and import are initiated only by you through the app interface. Exported backup files may leave the app sandbox depending on where you choose to save or share them, such as iCloud Drive, Files, AirDrop, email, or another destination selected through the system file picker.
You are responsible for storing, sharing, or deleting exported backup files outside the app.
Deleting Data
You can delete saved app data from the Settings screen. The app provides controls to delete saved runs and to delete local app data such as runs, telemetry, logs, vehicle profiles, calibration data, and settings reset data.
Deleting data inside the app does not automatically delete backup files that you previously exported outside the app.
Third-Party Services
SpeedGate does not integrate third-party analytics, advertising SDKs, or tracking services. The app does not sell, rent, or share personal data with third parties.
Safety and Measurement Accuracy
SpeedGate is intended for indicative measurements only. It is not a professional telemetry tool and should not be used as an official reference. Use the app responsibly, only in safe conditions, and in compliance with local laws and traffic regulations. The phone must be firmly mounted and must not be held in hand while driving.
Intended Audience and Children's Privacy
SpeedGate is intended exclusively for users who hold a valid driver's license and are legally permitted to operate a motor vehicle in their jurisdiction. By using the app, you confirm that you meet this requirement.
The app is not directed at, marketed to, or designed for children. The developer does not knowingly collect personal information from children. All measurements and logs generated by the app are processed and stored locally on the device, and they can be deleted at any time from within the app.
If a parent or legal guardian believes that a child has used the app or that any data related to a child is stored on a device, they may delete that data from inside the app or contact the developer at the email address below.
Changes to This Policy
This privacy policy may be updated in future app versions. Any changes will be reflected in the published policy page.
